Miley Cyrus and 16-Year-Old Paige Livesay Lend a Helping Hand To Deaf Children in Haiti

Miley Cyrus is channeling her energy into something positive: charity work. The 18-year-old star is currently in Haiti to support the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and in the process of helping deaf children get supplies that they need, the former 'Hannah Montana' star made one exceptional teen's day.

In 2006, 16-year-old Paige Livesay and her parents moved to Haiti to do missionary work in the troubled country. The work has been exciting and fulfilling, and this week, the Livesay family got to team up with Miley, World Wide Village and the Starkey Hearing Foundation to bring the gift of hearing to roughly 200 Haitian children.

According to the Livesays' blog, molds of the kids' ears were taken so that custom hearing aids could be made in Minnesota. Miley helped deliver the devices to the the children in need, but she needed a local translator. That's where Paige, who speaks Creole, came in.

"Paige missed a day of school last week in order to be with the midwives to help teenage mom Enisse bring Sophia into the world (per Enisse's request for Paige to be present) and she missed a day of school this week in order to go be with a famous teenager from America," Troy Livesay wrote. "We've nominated Paige for the 'Weirdest Life Ever' award."

We'd like to nominate Paige for the 'Most Amazing Teen Ever' award as we are completely blown away not only by her ability to speak Creole and help during the delivery of a newborn (wow!), but by the fact that she is dedicating so much of her time to helping others during a time in her life when most teens are preoccupied with texting and hanging out with friends. So inspiring!

As you can see from the Livesay family's pics, both Miley and Paige are doing a lot of good in Haiti with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which celebs like Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta have also partnered with in the past. And how cute is it that the little girl in the picture has a 'Hannah Montana' pack?

This isn't the first time Miley has aided the people of Haiti. She released a single and donated the proceeds to the Helping Haiti campaign and the Disasters Emergency Committee and last year she auctioned off her Grammys dress to benefit the American Red Cross' relief efforts in Haiti. We commend Miley and Paige for offering her time and help to the Haitian people. You can read more about the amazing work the Livesays are doing on their blog.

What do you think of Miley's trip to Haiti? She has twice been voted 'worst celeb influence' by the readers of this site, so we have to ask: Is Miley back to being a good celeb influence?
